Modern Technology – CCTV Systems

CCTV systems are all around us and have a significant impact on our daily lives. Often, we aren’t even aware of how many cameras are installed or where they are located. What comes to mind when you hear the word “camera”?

For many, it’s about capturing happy moments on vacation, enjoying time with family, or recording a beautiful trip to share with future generations. However, we are focusing on a different type of camera. Before the technological revolution, the idea of CCTV systems seemed like a far-fetched dream from a Hollywood production. Fortunately, over time, even here, we now have access to various types of cameras for different purposes.

The latest trends have made cameras more affordable and accessible to the public, no longer limited to wealthy companies or individuals. You may remember seeing images from the mansions of influential businesspeople, where expensive analog cameras worth thousands were installed. Those days are behind us. Technology and research have advanced, and today you can buy high-quality IP cameras for personal use or business at a fraction of the cost compared to years ago. Let’s embrace CCTV systems, as they are becoming an essential part of modern society.

But are cameras safe?

They are primarily used in environments where it is essential to monitor activities, such as in subways, train stations, buses, trams—essentially anywhere people and property are present. The safety of CCTV systems depends on how the data is handled by authorized entities. GDPR laws clearly outline how camera footage should be used safely and properly, ensuring data security. Human error may occasionally occur, but that is a reality in any field. Despite this, many people still have a negative view of cameras, often because they don’t fully understand their purpose or usage. Personally, I believe that modern technology without cameras wouldn’t be truly modern, and their purposeful use brings real benefits to society.
